Hello, Mill Park, and thank you for joining me here on this episode 2 of the Mill Park podcast. Now I’ve done a little bit of a change, with this podcast. I’ve instead of publishing it, Sunday afternoon, originally around 5 o’clock, I’ve changed it to, early Monday morning, so about 9 o’clock Monday mornings. This is to give myself a bit more time to compile the podcast and do everything that needs to be done, and everything like that. So yes. So, anyway, it’s gonna be 9 o’clock Monday mornings from now on. So yes.
Anyway, that’s rather interesting. So, anyway, let’s get on with it. As I said, last episode was talking about the stables, and this episode, I’m going to be talking about or having a bit of a, you know, letting you know what’s in the area up near how is it? The Rivergum Village Shopping Center. Now that is the shops that are on the development boulevard side of Plenty Road. It’s the one with the is it Caltex or, Woolworths service station on it, so opposite the Bunnings, Bunnings Corner. I will also actually, I’ll I’ll go around and talk about the ones that are on the three corners. Obviously, on the opposite corner, there’s Bunnings. And then a little bit further down, Plenty Road, there’s a Kia and a cherry car yard down there. You know, Bunnings is Bunnings. You don’t need to talk about that one.
So, yes, the Rivergum Village Shopping Center. What is there? We will admit, I normally go there a lot, sometimes in the early days of doing, direct to boot and everything like that, you know, use the app and and, you know, look for the shops that you what you wanna buy and all that sort of stuff. And then it was one of those ones where, I put the wrong address in or just saw Mill Park and didn’t pay much attention. Anyway, ended up getting shop, you know, the shopping from that one. But, anyway, and that’s just me. But lately, I I do it at the stables because that’s undercover and all that sort of stuff as I did mention it before.
Now the shops, there is, what would you say? A wide variety of shops at the River Gum Shopping Center, our River Gum Village Shopping Center. Obviously, the main ones, will worsen, there’s an attached BWS. There’s also a Baker’s Delight. That’s a good one to go to, you know, obviously to to get your bread and whatever other products that you need. There’s a scap actually, Scaffee. Caffe Spontino. Now I haven’t been there, so I can’t give you an idea of what that’s like. But, you know, it is a fairly popular one. The hours, what does it say?
Monday to Friday, 5 to 2:30, Saturday, 5 to 1, and Sunday, 7 to 1. So correction, Saturday, 5:30 to 1. That is located just as your issue in the car park as you’re walking towards Woolworths. It’s just on the left hand side. There is an inside the the area. There’s a what is it? South Morang lucky lucky lotto. Do your, basic news agency stuff as well as, any lotto tickets and things like that that you would like to buy, around the outside. There was a full life pharmacy, but that’s closed. There’s a skin skin and cosmetic surgery place out there. There’s now a barbers. There’s a dentist.
That’s a little smoke shop. There’s a medical center, early learning center out around the back. And as there seems to be everywhere in Victoria, there’s a charcoal chicken. That one is the river gum rooster charcoal chicken, that is located at the front, on the right hand side as you’re looking at the entrance. So what else is oh, and forgetting Subway, which is think it’s the closest one in the area, unless you go into Plenty Valley. Barbadian. So they’re the ones that are, they’re in Rivergum Village. So on the other side of the road, so we’ve gone from, Rivergum Village Shopping Center, so it’s our development road. We’re still staying on this side of Plenty Road.
We are looking at what’s that one? Now that is Mill Park Plaza. So there’s Mill Park Hub, which is beside behind Mill Park Plaza, and I’ll get to all that a little bit later on. And then there’s I don’t know what they call this stuff on the other side of the road, but we’ll get to that one later. Mill Park Plaza has a juice pizza. There’s an acai juice place, and eye care, optometrist there. There’s an Indian grocer, obviously, fish and chip shop. There’s a massage place. There’s the, salt and wellness haven. In the back of it, there’s a TAB.
There’s a, another I think it’s Kitchen, another sit down restaurant, and then there’s also a Mill Park, sorry, a family medical center that’s at the front near the, near the Indian grocer. Now behind that, as I said, so this is heading further down Development Boulevard. There is what is called the Mill Park hub. Now there there is a childcare center, hair salon, Jio Pilates. There’s lawyers. There’s an endodontist. There’s a blue fit swimming pool. A little bit further down, there’s chiropractor. There’s a 247, gym. There’s pet groomer, which is, I think, cuddles and clips.
There’s the, hairdressers there or barbers. And there’s a, beauty like lashes, eyelashes, and things like that. They’re heading back up Development Boulevard in towards, to go over Plenty Road. There’s, Tara Thai restaurant. There’s obviously Domino’s, Hungry Jack’s, and KFC. And just behind all that or still on Plenty Road. There is the what is it? Reece Plumbing and Hardware, in that so from Reece, you’re heading back up down. What do they call that? Bush Boulevard. You’ve got, obviously, you got, hunger checks. You got Domino’s. You’ve got burger platform. You’ve got a Chinese Malaysian, restaurant. You’ve got Lucky Kitchen, and you’ve got an Indian restaurant.
And I think there’s also a GJ Gardner’s Homes there. So that’s that little area. But, you know, it’s a thing. No park. It has virtually everything that you would want in the area, without having to the need to go into the city or anything like that. I’m going to think next one, I’ll talk about Plenty Valley Shopping Center. That’s more just you know, is it yeah. It’s not Mill Park, but it’s it’s South Morang, but, you know, it still forms part of of the identity of South Morang. So as as I said, this was going to be Mill Park and surrounds. So, yeah, just to talk a little bit about the area, and what’s going on. Obviously, early days in the podcast, so I’m still trying to build the relationships with, obviously, you, the listener, as well as the the businesses in the area to get them to let me know what’s going on and everything like that.
One thing that I did wanna mention is I wanted to sort of bring out a little bit of a what you call a hidden gem of the Mill Park area. Now this is the happened to stumble across it. When was it? Last week, I was looking at, some stuff in the area and just having to swing by. And, you know, the ideal way to to find out what the area is like is, you know, suss out the coffee shop. You know? This is Google Maps says it’s a Mill Park mini mart. It’s, on the the building. It’s, what is it? Moto Mia, for that. And if you’re interested, I they have to, I would say, and, you know, I paid for it, you know, didn’t mention anything or anything like that has to be one of the best coffees that I’ve tasted in, I would say, a long time.
So if you’re in the Mill Park area, Mill Park Drive, it is I I do recommend, stopping in and having a squeeze at that, that coffee shop because, yeah, it is one of the the better ones that I’ve had for a while. So, you know, well well recommended. There’s, obviously, off street parking and all that sort of stuff out the front. What else is there? There’s actually plenty of off street parking because there is, health center and everything like that along it as well. And I’m trying to find out where it is. Here we go. Mayfield Drive. So you hit down Plenty Road left depending on which way you’re going into Mayfield Drive.
When you hit Mayfield Drive, you turn left. And yep. Here we go. I’m sorry. Just making sure my Google, Google Maps is doing the right way. It just jumped a little bit too far. I’ve jumped miles away. Don’t you love modern modern technology? Here we go. This is where it is. There is. There’s a swim school. Beside it, there’s a health care center. There’s a, a little restaurant at the back. And then, yeah, coffee is it’s like a little obviously, a mini mart. They’ve got heaps of coffee in there, lollies, and things like more more just your emergency stuff that you’d need in the area.
What else have we got? There is a oh, and it backs into the school as well. The schools at the back on, Blamey Avenue. Oh, it’s a school. School is Mill Park Primary. According to Google Maps, this is the wrapped Korean chicken and burger. Whether that’s I don’t know. It is still there according to to Google, which we know Google never lies. But, anyway, before I walk too much, yeah, Mill Park Preschool. It you know, if you’re into coffee and you want somewhere new to go or have a bit of a suss out, I do recommend that one. Can’t give you any vouchers or coupons or or say, hey. You know that? But not that being said, if you do happen to go there because of this podcast, make sure you let them know that you heard about it on the Mill Park podcast and, you know, see how it goes from there.
Anyway, waffled enough for this one. There’s nothing to report about in this week coming, though there is actually school goes back. So, that means from, I think, Wednesday or Thursday, because today, Monday, is the public holiday for Australia Day. So Tuesday, I think most schools have a, staff curriculum day or student free days or whatever they call it. And then schools start back on Wednesday or Thursday. So, obviously, that means school zones are in, in effect, from 7:30 till 9 or whatever times that they are. So just be wary, 40 k speed limits, start paying attention again when you’re going around the schools, because, you know, we do wanna keep the kids safe and everything like that, and, make sure that they do get home to your parents and that, your wallet isn’t any lighter thanks to the Victorian government.
So yes. So, anyway, thanks for listening. If you’ve got any show notes or any tips or events or anything like that, please send me an email at notes@millpark.blog, or even head on over to the website and find the contact form. The website I’m creating an events calendar for that, I may even go through and and do a bit of a business directory, for that one, but that sort of just depends on how much time, I get to do that sort of stuff. And if you wanna support this blog and, you know, your blog and podcast, you can do it by heading over to millpark.blogforward/mv4v.
That’s value for value. This I’m not gonna have advertising, so that means that I can give you my honest opinion on what’s happening in the area, without, you know, upsetting advertisers or or having advertisers say that I have have to give someone a favorable review. This is a podcast for you, the resident or visitor to the Mill Park and surrounds area. So, I’ve, I operate this is going to operate on the value for value model, which I sought inspiration from, the guys at the nerve agenda podcast. So, if you get value out of this and you would like to return some value, you can either do it in time, talent, or treasure. So your time, you, you know, tell people about this podcast, or you can spend your time finding places and then contacting me, you know, events, etcetera, etcetera, talent. And, obviously, there’s a treasure park. So, you know, everything costs money these days, and this is something for you guys. So if you can ease the financial load a little bit, it’ll be greatly appreciated.
Also, in line with what the guys at the No Agenda Podcast do, you will be listed, depending on what level you contribute at, whether you’re producer, associate executive producer, etcetera, etcetera. And you’ll be listed on the, IMDB, episode page for the podcast. I’ll include a link to all that sort of stuff in the show notes. So, anyway, yeah, that’s about it for this one. Look forward to having you join me next Monday on the Mill Park podcast. Till next time. Bye for now.
